Service Area
San Miguel Power Association, Inc. serves all or parts of seven counties in western Colorado including, Ouray, San Juan, San Miguel, Montrose, Mesa, Hinsdale and Dolores. Our service territory covers approximately 3,600 square miles and ranges in terrain from rugged mountain peaks to grassy plateaus. SMPA maintains approximately 1,800 miles of line and 13,000 meters. For your convenience, there are two district offices located in Nucla and Ridgway, CO.
SMPA's service territory is divided into seven different districts, with all districts having approximately 1,200 to 1,300 members. Each district elects a representative from their area to serve on SMPA's Board of Directors for a four year term.
